Never herd of a military stump press, what is it?
I see that you do a seated DB clean, just wondering why you chose the seated version?
Hey Jason,
About 3 years ago we started benching hanging the weight off of the bar with tie down straps. One of the guys started calling them "stump presses).
The military version has me in a rack with the pins high, about chin to nose level. All of the weight posted is hung off of the bar which causes some crazy swinging which makes you have to stay very tight and groove through your lats to maintain good control of the bar. This tenses your whole body.
Re the seated shrug/cleans, I saw this on Elite Fitness Systems. On the seated you go lighter and try to concentrate more on the shoulder complex. For me, I tend to get too much body english going if I am standing.
